North Wollongong Beach

About North Wollongong Beach

North Wollongong Beach, or North Beach, is a beautiful stretch of sand located just northeast of the Wollongong downtown area. This stunning beach is known for its crystal clear waters and 500-meter-long shorelines, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and strolling along its soft sands. Backed by towering bluffs that rise to 30 meters, North Beach offers a breathtaking contrast between nature’s beauty and urban development.

Separated from the northern Fairy Meadow Beach by low rocks, this east-northeast-facing beach enjoys some protection from southeast waves from Flagstaff Point. With an average wave height of 1.2 meters, the beach typically features a single bar, which is occasionally cut by three to four rips. Nonetheless, the rips are usually small and infill with sand over time, except during summer northeast waves, and when waves exceed one meter, they tend to intensify. Whether you are looking to have a relaxing day on the beach or to catch some waves, North Wollongong Beach is undoubtedly worth visiting.
